The original 2022 calendar was announced on 19 August 2021, planned to be held over five three-race weekends in February and March of 2022, plus a pre-season test at Buddh International Circuit. However, in January 2022, the season was postponed until November because of the pandemic's resurgence. The championship will take place in several permanent racetracks, like the Buddh International Circuit. One or two rounds will be held on the first ever FIA-graded Indian street circuit, at Hyderabad.
The weekend's format is set to have three races per weekend with one single qualifying session. The fastest lap will award pole position for Race 1, while the grid for the third race will be set according to the 2nd fastest lap of every driver at the qualifying session. Race 2 will be a reverse grid race from the results of the first race.
